Celebrasia

Celebrasia is an annual cultural show organized by The Chinese Student Association, a student run organization that aims to increase the understanding and awareness about traditional Chinese and Chinese American culture through social and educational activities. Usually held in late November, Celebrasia is an open food market where various cultural organizations on campus come together under one roof and introduce cultural food to students, teachers, and staff on campus. There is a small performance component during the middle of Celebrasia, where both traditional and modern dance groups perform amazing routines for entertainment. This is because in Chinese culture, many people view food and the act of dining as a social activity.

The aim of Celebrasia is to increase the awareness of cultural diversity on campus through something universal: food. By gathering diverse organizations on campus and centering them in one place, students and staf where they can socialize, learn new cultures, and make new friends. For the event, food portions are worth different amount of food tickets. Students and staff are able to purchase food tickets ($0.50 each) and try out different foods from unique cultures all over the world.

Celebrasia was launched in 2000. In 2016, Celebrasia was moved to the Trotter Multicultural Center.
